Wish

This canvas was for sale at the Anonymous Art Show this past December.  I watched as some really excited woman bought it off the wall right before my eyes.  It was pretty cool!  It was one of those canvases I created and really loved and could have kept for myself.  It sold for $100.  I was thrilled!!

I had the idea of using the image of this canvas for a journal cover but I didn’t want it to be exactly the same sooooo I decided to print it out and do a gel transfer of the image to see how it would look on a cover.  Given the word WISH is on it I had to remember to flip it so that I printed off the mirror image otherwise it would transfer backwards and that wouldn’t be good at all!  It turned out pretty good.

The peeling process began and it was actually working.

I added some paint around the final transferred image and then just to make it look just a bit different I re-printed the original dandelion picture, tore out the “wish” part and adhered it over top of the transferred image.  I added splashes of other paints and the end result…well, it’s for sale in my Etsy shop.

Wish

Dandilion WishesWe always hear of the Genie granting three wishes but what if we could only have one.  What would you wish for?  Would you wish for more time, more money, more kids (that wouldn’t be my wish) or what about freedom or world peace?  The options are endless and the decision would likely drive you to be committed to a mental institution because what if you made the wrong choice or were the type of person who can’t make decisions on their own ever and rely on others to tell them what to do.  Generally the later person isn’t in my circle of friends because I’d have to slap them and they’d end up hating me anyway.Wish Sketch Book

I have a fondness for dandelions and their lovely wishes.  Yes they are an annoyance in your grass or as represented in the picture above when they consume your yard.  For me though they represent a time when we first arrived in our neighbourhood and Tessa and I would go for a walk.  It didn’t matter where we were she’d be far more interested in picking the dandelions and blowing their wishes everywhere.  I always wondered what she was wishing for, she’d never tell me because they wouldn’t come true she said.  Given I was the one who told her that was nice to know she was listening.

Wish Canvas My husband and I had the pleasure of having a kid free weekend.  We took the time to finally do a bunch of  household chores that we have been wanting to get done for a long time.  As I was cleaning I came across a dandelion that had been perfectly pressed in a book.  Some people would have tossed it in the garbage, I had another idea.  I am hosting an Open House in November.  I have decided to start selling some of my art on canvas there.  This Wish canvas will be available for sale then.
